Hello there!
My name is Audrey, and I'm so excited that you are considering counseling services! I have been a therapist for over 10 years and I fully believe in the healing power of this field. I received my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 2013, and have had a variety of experiences in the field since then. Over the last few years, I have realized that my passions lie in treating individuals and couples. I am humbled by my work every day and it gives me the greatest joy to help others improve their connections and realize their full potential!
My Story
While I lived in Knoxville, TN, I worked for one of the research projects assessing the long-term benefits of The Relationship Checkup. This work quickly became exciting and fulfilling, for both the counselors and the clients! I loved being able to sit with a couple and watch partners learn more about one another. Many felt like they were finally gaining traction and moving beyond those arguments that they kept having over and over. I want to continue to help partners do this, both in preventative work and in deeper healing work.
I have also been working with individuals since the beginning of my counseling career. I think it is important for us to seek our own professional support from time to time when we are feeling lost, stuck, or too overwhelmed. My style is client-centered and relationship-oriented; my sessions are not always structured with activities or educational information, unless that is what you feel you need. In my past and current work, I am inspired by watching my clients forge their own path by getting to know themselves better and discovering answers they already had. I am here to help facilitate that journey!
Since I moved to Asheville in 2015, I have also been specializing in addictions work. I believe that most of us have been affected by addiction in some way, whether it has been our own struggle or something that a loved one has or is going through now. If this is something that has touched your life, I will be able to address this with you with sensitivity and compassion. I am prepared to help provide you with any educational materials that may be helpful, and connect you with other community resources as well.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, including going hiking and camping with my adventure dog, Finn. This is just one of the many things that brought me to Asheville! I also enjoy taking photographs and playing music. I think being connected to meaningful activities and hobbies is one of the ways we can stay healthy, and I'm excited to learn about your interests!
If you have any other questions about me or my work, or are still wondering if I will be a good fit for you, please don't hesitate to contact me! I provide free phone consultations, and you are not obligated to schedule a session after we talk. Thank you, and best wishes on your journey!
